Although I would hardly call myself a seamstress, I couldn't think of another way to put it. You see, I finally bought some cloth to make a new dress for myself. I haven't made a dress of any kind for 8 years... So I dug out the old pattern. Washed and ironed the fabric. Bought coordinating thread. And that is as far as I've gotten. I'm afraid to make the first cut with the scissors. What if after all this work, and all this time I don't like it? I loved the last one I made, I wore it right out. I've spent some time looking at patterns online and with the vast amount of them it got overwhelming. Sometime I will have to put the effort into bookmarking new patterns and then buy a couple at a time and try them out. For now, I have one. Oh, I know enough about sewing to be able to make adjustments to patterns to suit my taste, but I am far from an expert. I think the sewing wizard genes from my Grandmother and aunts skipped me. Well, I will get all the other work done around here and maybe tonight I will have enough courage to cut it out.
~Glad you stopped in! This is my little corner online where I jot down my thoughts and the happenings of the day at our farm. I hope you enjoy your stay. May The LORD richly bless you!!

Brothers
Big Boy likes hitching a ride on Little Boys walker.
The two of them go tooling all over the kitchen! Little Boy thought I was going to pick him up, hence the look I'm getting while taking their picture!Ahwah.
Kisses from big brother!
Moon Sand : 8 cups of flour, 1 cup baby oil. The second time I made it I used 1-1/2 cups oil, we think that worked better. Darlin' found the recipe on Facebook. Big Boy LOVES it.
He loves playing trucks.
And water colors.
My little spaghetti lover!
He would eat spaghetti at ever meal if I'd give it to him!
Playing cards last night after supper.
Have a good day y'all!

Death By A Midget
Yesterday morning started out with a saber fight in the kitchen. Big Boy came from the livingroom saying "Mama, mine." He was holding a saber to himself, the other he held out for me. And so the fight began...
He figured out how to pop open the cabinets with the tip.
Mmm, Little Boy likes dishes!
And Bacon! Uncle Sai said he HAD to try some! He loved it!
Introducing... Butch! Butch is an imaginary gray squirrel we tell stories about. We named this little squirrel after him. And he is eating all the banana muffins!
We made muffin tin crayons. Peel the crayons, break them into pieces, arrange them how you want in the tin and bake 150-200* for about 15-20 minutes (depending on how full the muffin tin is).
Gump came to visit. He put Little Boy right to sleep!
Uncle Sai with a smile on his face! Big Boy is having a jug, lol.
Wow, bright flash!
Time for lasagna! He is sitting in the window above my kitchen sink. Aunt Ya-ya is hanging out too!
Aunt Kitty lost a tooth!
Uncle Sai and Zippy found old hummingbird nests!
We played "Go fish", and wanted to make cookies, but I didn't time it right and the oven was full on lasagna! Oops. Oh, well. Next time!

Baby "Snuggies"
Sleep Sacks, Wearable blankets, Snuggies, whatever you want to call them, I'm making Big Boy two of them in a bigger size. The one he has is starting to get snug on him. I really like these for night time. If I don't put one on him he loses his blankets in the night and wakes up because he is cold. Our household name for them are snuggies, even though a Snuggie is a blanket with sleeves you can wear while sitting on the couch. I made one yesterday, and hopefully will make the second one today. I lined it with fuzzy fleece, and the print is a soft flannel. Here is the first one:
My little helper fell asleep.
It was hard to get a good picture of him, all he wanted to do was bounce on the bed! Lol.
Fun and games
Made cookies in the wood cookstove
Yummy!
Playing with his new Melissa & Doug toy from Grampie Osgood
I'm working on a frugal kitchen post, coming soon!

DIY Vanity
My Mom and I got a desk, probably close to 15 years ago now, for $4.00 at a yard sale. I've had it in the downstairs guestroom/ office for a couple years, and haven't used it for much. A few months ago I decided I'd really like to have a vanity to keep all of my make up and hair things in, for the sake of having my own little space and to relieve the storage dilemma in the bathroom. I bought some white paint for $10.00, foam board for $1.77 and got busy.
BEFORE:
This is after I unearthed the top, which was piled with papers and odds and ends of junk. It was sitting with boxes of baby clothes a neighbor gave us, give away items, things to return, and more baby clothes. So you can see, it wasn't doing much.
AFTER:
I had some silver spray paint from a previous project to paint the knobs. The silk flowers have been in various places throughout the house. Originally from Dollar Tree. I thought it made for a nice, feminine touch.
I saw several people on YouTube using foam board to make custom, affordable dividers for all types of drawers. So genius, I wish I'd thought of it! I tacked it with tape, until I am sure it is how I want it, then I will glue gun it in place. I used some leftover batting from a sewing project to line the jewelry compartments to keep things from sliding everywhere and getting tangled up. At first, I had baskets in the drawers to hold things, but it wasn't working very well. The baskets weren't the right size, so I was losing lots of space. And the little stuff was constantly getting lost.
Hair tools and jewelry in the large, top drawer
Makeup in the small, top left drawer
Pedicure/manicure kit and lotions
Travel case for makeup, sprays, Moroccan oil
Not much in the bottom two drawers, but everything has a place. I like how the divider keeps the cans from rolling around every time I open the drawer.
I still need to put up a mirror, I found one I like at Family Dollar pretty reasonable, just have to pick it up.
I am pretty pleased at how this project turned out. For less than $15.00 I have a beautiful (to me) place to keep all my "girl" stuff, everything has a home, and things are visible, only one layer deep so that it is all easy to find. Not to mention the desk is probably happy to be out in a sunny room, where it is used every day ;)
I hope this post inspires you to get creative and carve out a little something for yourself in your home.
