Mommy Mondays

So there is a theme going around in the virtual world where new mothers post weekly about their new little ones. They try to post once a week with an update about how they and their baby are doing, milestones, etc. I wanted to start this Monday, and thought it was perfect because Jackson was born on a Monday. Well, I blew that already lol. So, this is a day late, but here is my first Mommy Monday post:

Jackson had his first check up this Monday. He is doing great! He has gained 10oz since leaving the hospital! He surpassed his birth weight (6lbs, 13oz) and now weighs 7lbs and 3oz! He eats about every 3 hrs. and when he is awake he likes to look around and study the face of whoever is holding him. He still has his umbilical cord, which looks like it could fall off any day now. His newborn clothes are still too big for him, and his 0-3 month outfits are even bigger! He is a very happy baby so far, and only cries when he is getting his diaper changed some times. At night, he wakes up about three times for a diaper change and feeding, then goes right back to sleep.

About me: I feel tired, but am getting more energetic by the day. I'm no longer experiencing pain from the cesarean, just some pain from the incision if I sit up too quickly, or move the wrong way. I've lost 14lbs, 16 to go! I hate to say it but, my regular jeans still don't fit, and my maternity ones are a little too big, so I'm in kind of a limbo with that. Nursing is going very well. He latches on great and apparently is getting enough to eat lol. I haven't had any trouble yet, as far as engorgement, cracked nipples and things of that nature. It just seems so natural, I feel lucky:). Although, this morning when I tried to nurse him he wouldn't because he wanted a bottle instead. (I pump so Darling can feed him sometimes and to make night time easier) So later I tried some sugar water and he is back to nursing again.

~The Nursery~

I am very happy to say that the nursery is finished, and (in my opinion) beautiful! I am happy with how it turned out. Here are the before pictures...

And now...the after...
Darlin put the floor in for me. He did a beautiful job, I love how it turned out. We got it at Marden's for $1.29/sq.ft. and it is pre-padded (floating floor).

Cross stitch pictures from Aunt Michelle
Plaque from Aunt Ginny and Uncle Hubbie
Car seat with monkey head support, a hand crocheted blanket from Mom, also a weather cover from Mom Linda.
My rocking chair that Grampie fixed and Grammie finished ( I love it!). A quilt that Grampie Mayland gave little Jackson, and a Boppy pillow from cousin Kylie.
A diaper three wheeler from my friend, Debbie Swan, my teddy bear from my Uncle Sean, assorted books, and a ready-to-go bath basket.
An end table I "stole" from my kitchen and painted to match the room. It sits next to the rocking chair with burp cloths and nursing supplies, on top is a monkey soap dish with pacifiers on it. The cheetah print place mat is from the dollar store.
Basket of stuffed animals, and little shoes.
Changing table with all the goodies; extra soaps, diapers, wipes, clothes, and little baskets of socks, hats, and booties.
Hanging monkey sorter with receiving blankets, towels and sleeper gowns. This is hanging next to the changing table.
Removable jungle wall stickers from Burlington Coat Factory.

The crib. Underneath is a laundry basket with blankets from family and friends which I plan to "rotate" so that they all get used.
In the closet, tubs of clothes ranging from 3/6 months to 18 months. Diapers in different sizes, from the baby showers and a few mega packs of wipes.
A cute denim jacket that Darlin used to wear when he was a little "whipper snapper".
Stained wooden name letters. I mounted these to the wall with one of my new favorite tools; Velcro squares with sticky backing. I got them at Tractor Supply for less than $3.
An ultimately cool outfit from my brother Chance. Aren't the little socks cute?
This is a little crib that we are borrowing from Darlin's buddy, Stroker. Stroker slept in it when he was an infant, and is a family heirloom, we are grateful to use it. It fits on my side of the bed perfectly, which is awesome because there isn't much room for furniture in our room.

I took all of these pictures around 5a.m. and they all came out nice and bright as if it were in the middle of the day-the flash on the camera is awesome!
Hope you all have a good day!

Here we go again

Google Images
At three thirty this morning, I was wide awake. And for an hour I laid there, looking at the clock with "baby on the brain". Thinking about everything it seemed...

  • I was arranging nursery furniture in my mind
  • Counting how many small baskets I want to get for little socks, mittens, etc.
  • Making a mental note to throw in a roll of quarters when I pack the hospital bag for Joe's snacks
  • What to put on the table next to the rocking chair
  • Thinking I've got to wash the rest of the baby clothes
  • What size shelving I will need for the closet
  • I've got to get some Christmas gifts/cards
  • I needed to finish baby shower "thank yous"
  • Who will water/feed the chickens, goats, pigs?
  • Who will let the dog out while we're gone and fill the stove???
  • I've got to get some paper plates
  • What if I'm forgetting something?
Finally, I just had to get up. I couldn't sleep, and I couldn't take the questions and to-do's hammering at my mind anymore. So I made some coffee and got dressed. Started a load of laundry, folded and put away the load from yesterday, washed the dishes, swept the floor, got the fire going, took all the tags and labels off the baby clothes and threw them in the wash. I guess I'll try to settle my mind and make a list for when I get groceries and get paper plates, baskets a few gifts, etc. I just feel like I have to be doing something! I want to wave a magic wand and have everything done right now so I don't have to worry about it! Oh well, I haven't found one yet so I guess I'll have to get things done the old fashioned way lol.
I think I'll make banana muffins for breakfast. Hope you have a good day!

28 Week update

7 months!!!!! Yahoo! Officially in the third trimester! Everything is going well, waiting for the results from the GTT (glucose tolerance test). Hopefully I pass the first time so I don't have to go back for the three hour test! Not to mention I hardly go three hours with out a snack, I feel sick when I don't eat. Jackson kicks and moves around a lot, except when someone is trying to feel him, then he stops! Typical.
* Still craving green salad with chicken and cheese.
*Picking out colors for the nursery.
*Anxious to get it all finished soon.
*If you go to the store with me, and lose me, look in the baby department.

Off the Deep End

So here it is, 6:30 A.M. I have been up since 5:00 A.M. What has been on my mind since I woke up?(and the last few days?) SCALLOPS!!!!! For real, I was just looking at recipes for "healthy scallops" and the more I searched the more obvious it was- I simply just have to have them, today!! It's a good thing I'm getting groceries today lol. Can a pregnant woman have more than one craving at a time? Or maybe I finally lost my last marble? Because I still want my salad too, of course.
Thing is, I want to cook them with out batter and frying them, which is the only way I remember ever having them. I will have to post about when I make it! I can taste them already, mmmm.
(Google Images)
I am most certain I shall perish if I don't get some soon, I mean, just look at them!!
It will be a crazy day today, so I will post as soon as I can. I hope you all have a great day, and be sure to eat your scallops-or I will lol!

Baby Update!

It's been a while since I posted about our Little Love, so I thought I'd do an update post.

This is my 18 week baby bump photo shot.
We had a bbq at the farm for the 4th of July. Grammie and Gramps brought a beautiful rocking chair for me. My Uncle Don gave them the chair, and Gramps replaced the broken wicker bottom with wood, then Grammie refinished it in a beautiful stain and got a pretty cushion for it. I absolutely LOVE IT! This will be a treasure ALWAYS. Sentimental things like this touch my heart.

Also, I can feel little kicks! They feel like pokes. I notice them most while I'm lying in bed or sitting down, they are so cute!

I had recorded our baby's heartbeat on my phone, and to post it here, I recorded the sound with the camera and made a "video". Click to hear!!!

The next ultrasound is next Monday, we can't wait! We are also hoping to find out the sex of the baby during the ultrasound! More update to follow the appointment!

Craving

Ok, I think it is official. I have a craving...oranges and orange juice! Gotta get some when I get groceries!!!

I never had to have it before, it was ok, but not essential. A week from this coming Tuesday we hope to see the little heartbeat of our angel, and should be able to make out the little arms and legs too.
Awwah, soooo cute! Doesn't that just make you want to yawn? Lol.
