Your neighbor drives up your 1/4 mile long driveway and knocks on your door at 7:30 a.m. to tell you that "Your cows are down there licking your mailbox."
Yup. Life is good.
Eva is such a nice neighbor. She is one of those folks who will help you out whatever that means. Even giving you the shirt off her back. She walked down to help me get them back to the house and her daughter Julia stayed in the house with the boys. We tried to get them to follow us with grain, but they thought green apples where much better. Not wanting her to be late for her daughters appointment, I thanked her and sent them on their way. I called my mother-in-love and she and Darlin's grandfather Mayland came over. Ma watched the boys while Gramp and I went after the steers. They were half way up to our neighbors Wanda and John's house. Gramp dropped me off by the steers and drove up passed them and turned around. I got them started in the general direction with some grain and then Gramp used the truck to "push'' them back home. Once they were in the driveway and well on their way to the house I hopped back into the pickup. "Well," Gramp started chuckling, "that's the first time I've ever herded cattle with a pickup!."
One of my little bookworms. The boys love stories!
...And dirt!
This is what they were looking at. The chickens came right up to them! In the picture they are eating a handful of oats that I tossed out for them.
Uncle Jay cam to visit! The boys missed him and wanted to play with him all day!
Big Boy, trying out Daddy's shoes.
Looks like I'd better get to pickling, zucchini bread, and salad makin'!
Supper last night: Leftover Bunny noodles with bacon ends and pieces and steamed broccoli. Yummy!
So I've got to know... what do you keep in your mailbox that tastes so good to cows? :)
ReplyDeleteYour guess is as good as mine! LOL.
