Greetings Once Again

Hello to friends and fellow bloggers! It has been too long!
We just got internet again, we had a nice break this past Summer. But it is nice to have again, especially for things like account access to balance the check book right from home, paying bills, etc. And of course, blogging!
Little Liam is doing great. We found out Thanksgiving week that he had hydrocephalus, which is fluid in the brain. We went to Portland where he was operated on last week to drain the fluid, and he is doing wonderfully. We are all home once again, and I am looking forward to a new year!
If you can believe it, I sold all my goats. My mama goat, Ivy, died and we decided it was time for a goat break. I hope to get some more some day (when the boys are old enough to lug water buckets *wink!*) And we still have chickens, pigs and a beef critter. This unseasonably warm weather has been easy on the wood pile.

For the past year or so, there has been an ongoing case to allow windmills to be put up on the mountains in our town. I know this is a good way to get stoned, but here goes. I am one of the people who wasn't crazy about the idea. I know. I never voted, posted signs or wrote opposing articles. But I wasn't all for them. I was/am torn between the rights of the landowner to do as he pleases on his own property, and the fact that they would be right out my kitchen window, on the beautiful mountains. I am sure I just made a few more enemies, and expect to get hate comments now lol.Well, the hear-say is that the ruling was finally made: No windmills. And as far as I know, this case cannot go to court again, it is final. I still have to look up the details for myself, but that is what I am told. A bitter-sweet ruling. So far I don't see any burning crosses in my yard, but it is early yet. I know it would have meant tax breaks for the town, profit for the landowner, instead of having to pay $16,000 in property tax. I feel bad, I do. But at the same time I am glad, because I love where we live, I love the view. I love the simple things (that's one reason why we don't have TV). I understand I can't "make" others live the way I choose to, nor have I ever wanted to try. I don't blame the guy for wanting the windmills. But it is nice to know that "progress", for lack of a better term, doesn't have to be in every corner of the world. I was surprised. I thought for sure the windmills were going to win. Well there, I went off on a little story/rant without meaning to. What else is new?

I have lots to tell you, lots of pictures to post, updates to make. But alas, time marches on. I will have to come back later and work more on this later. Until then, friends!
